Housing Opportunities of Northern Delaware to Host Community Forum on Appraisals, Fair Housing, and Building Generational Wealth
Wilmington, Delaware — June 2026 — Housing Opportunities of Northern Delaware, Inc. (HOND) will host a special community forum, “Understanding Appraisals and the Effect on Building Generational Wealth,” on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Community Services Building in Wilmington.
The event will bring together homeowners, prospective homebuyers, housing professionals, lenders, advocates, and community leaders to explore how residential appraisals impact homeownership, equity growth, and long-term wealth creation.
As home values remain one of the primary drivers of household wealth in America, understanding the appraisal process has become increasingly important. The forum will examine how appraisals influence buying, selling, refinancing, and wealth-building opportunities while providing participants with practical information they can use to make informed housing decisions.
“Homeownership continues to be one of the most effective ways families build wealth and create financial stability across generations,” said HOND representatives. “By helping residents understand the appraisal process and its impact on property values, we can empower individuals and families to make better housing decisions and protect their investments.”
The educational session builds upon HOND’s longstanding commitment to fair housing advocacy and consumer education. Previous Fair Housing Law Forums hosted by HOND have focused on educating housing professionals, public officials, consumers, and community stakeholders about fair housing protections, appraisal practices, and barriers to wealth creation.
